An involuntary tremor passed through Kendra as
he stared down at her. To her surprise, she felt her heart given an erratic
thud as his eyes held hers and deepened with an intensity that held her
captive. She wanted to shake him for his arrogance and for the financial hold
he had over her, but as his warm breath fanned against her cheek, she was only
conscious of a new kind of awareness which caused the discordant thudding of
her pulse. 'You can't have me. I'll find a way to pay you back your money, with
interest.'
'Until then,' Shay said, his voice deep, velvety
and unmistakably American. 'I'll take my first installment now.'
Kendra Davenport is seeing red. She runs her father's
newspaper, the largest black newspaper in Europe. And she's about to lose half
of it to Shay Brentwood, son of her father's worst enemy . . . unless she comes
up with a huge sum of cash in seven days - and gives the arrogant smooth talker
a kiss. The first demand seems impossible. The second sets her on fire.
Kendra would like nothing more than to believe that she and
Shay are just pawns in their fathers' feud. But she still cannot give Shay her
complete trust. And he's the last man on earth she wants to desire, yet when
he's near, she feels his seductive power ignite her passion. Shay's solution?
Marry him. But first she must be certain that the sweet silken satisfaction of
her love will be enough to hold on to her man . . . forever.
